Women’s Leadership Event in Bondo

Women’s Leadership Event in Bondo

32 women community leaders gathered in Bondo, Nyanza region in Kenya for a powerful Manasprings Two Day/Two Night Event held 28 – 30 April 2016. Ten counties were represented, with women leaders working in areas of care and protection of orphans and vulnerable children, early childhood development, primary and secondary education, and small enterprise for women in disadvantaged communities.

Much has been written on the subject of Leadership, especially in the minority world. When it comes to the leadership qualities of Kenyan women within Manasprings, the apt terms of Compassionate Leaders and Courageous Leaders fit well. There is much that current leaders in government, business and civil society could learn from these inspiring women, who despite insurmountable challenges, continue to lead, so as to help a child, woman or man in need.

“What I liked most was the oneness; the way we were free with one another…the spirit of tribalism was not in us.” Abigail

“I am learning so many things, like how to approach problems and find solutions within the community that are long-term solutions.” Elizabeth

Thank you to the Australian Government for their Direct Aid Program that funded this project and to all who assisted in ensuring that women leaders came together to refresh body, mind and spirit for re-energised service.
